How to make a BTS Magnetic Photo Frame

If you're like one of the thousands of crafters creating vinyl projects, you're going to love this cute photo frame project by Design Team Member Nadine Carlier.

Materials Used:

• Glossy Craft Vinyl:  red, white, brown, and green
• Vinyl Tools
• Vinyl Transfer Paper
• Electronic Die Cutting Machine
• Tape Runner
• Deflecto Magnetic Sheets

Directions:

• Use an SVG school photo frame image and the Silhouette Designer Studio Software to create the cut file.
• Cut a square of the Glossy Craft Vinyl in Apple Green, Brown, Red, and White.  Place the vinyl to match each element of the frame to be cut.
• Cut the vinyl using Electronic Die-Cutting Machine.
• Remove the negative spaces around the image using a vinyl weeding tool.

• Adhere a photo onto a Deflecto Magnetic Sheet.

• Apply the vinyl apple frame over the picture.
• Add the stem and the leaf to the top of the apple.
• Using scissors, cut the frame out along the outer edge of the apple, leaf, and stem.

• Use the Vinyl Transfer Tape, transfer the wording onto the front of the apple.

The frame would also make great gifts for Grandparents. 

Or change it up some and add a photo of your favorite teacher.

Easy Embroidery Project Ideas for Beginners

Project One:  A Stitched Sampler

The stitch sampler is my recommendation on the best way to begin your embroidery journey. It will give you hands-on experience with basic stitches as well as be a reference guide for future projects. 

Project Two:  Stitched Felt Ornaments

Felt is an easy and forgiving medium that is sturdy and won’t fray. Cut these bright colors of Kunin Felt into basic shapes, then layer, and then join together with a variety of fun and quirky stitches. Perfection is not a goal with this project, but rather let the rustic nature of the felt and embroidery shine through. Stephanie Ackerman has a great tutorial for Stitching with Felt and using what you have over on her blog Homegrown Hospitality.

Coloring a Rainbow

Step #1

Always start out with a sketch.  I have a spiral-bound book that I draw rough outlines of all my doodles and printable ideas.  This is a great way to save all those quotes I randomly come across.  

Step #2 

The Cricut BrightPad is one of my favorite tools when it comes to creating printable files, doodles and drawings.  By layering the rough sketch under the smooth printer paper I can quickly and easily create different versions of the same quote.  Ink in the image with a medium grey pen.  

Step #3

• Next, take the shadow quote and layer a new piece of smooth printer paper on top.  
• Trace around the quote with a fine tip permanent marker.

Step #4

• Color the background in the lightest of blue markers.
• Letter the darker words with the brush tip of the black marker.
• Outline the block letters using the bullet tip of the marker.

Step # 5

• Start out with a sample color palette to make sure the final piece will have the perfect combination.
• Add the rainbow perspective to the word FEELS at the bottom of the quote. 
• Outline the colors and the quote with the bullet tip of the black marker.

How to make a Egg-stra Special Shaker Tag

Supplies Used:

• Stamps and Dies (from the Maker's Movement)
• Die Cut Machine
• Clear Acetate Sheets
• Double Sided Craft Foam
• Black Ink
• Art Markers
• Deflecto Expandable Marker Accordion
• Heavyweight Watercolor Paper
• Decorative Scrapbook Paper
• Tape Runner
• Ribbon, Twine, Button

• Stamp the chick image with black ink onto white cardstock.
• Stamping on non-porous white card-stock helps the markers blend easier.

• Color in the edge of the chick with the light ochre marker.  Use the pale yellow marker to blend and fill in the rest of the chick.

• Line up chick die with the stamped image.  (cutting side down)  I use a piece of removable tape on my die to hold it in place as I run in through the die cut machine. 

• Using a nesting tag dies, center and tape the two dies together to create a tag frame.

Shaker Tag pieces:

• Cut a large tag from the largest nested tag die.
• Cut a large green dot tag.  Cut a wavy line die on the bottom of the tag. 
• Adhere bottom of the wavy cut tag onto the blue skies tag.
• Cut a acetate tag from the next largest nesting tag die.
• Cut a large purple gingham egg, a floral cracked egg and several small eggs from coordinating scrapbook paper.

• On the back of the tag frame, add a thin line of adhesive around the inside opening of the tag.
• Remove the protective coating from both sides of the acetate and place it on top of the adhesive.
• Cut thin strips from the double-sided foam sheets.  Remove one side of the protective layer from the foam strips and place around the inside edges of the tag.
• Add shaker bits inside tag.
• Remove the second side of the protective layer from the foam strips and adhere to the blue skies layer on the inside of the tag.

• Glue the small floral cracked half egg onto purple gingham egg.
• Add foam to the back of chick and egg and add to front of the card.
• Punch a hole on the top of the tag using the crop-a-dile, add purple and white twine.
• Adhere ribbon bow to top of the tag.

Kids Craft Caddie With Stack N Go

My kids love to craft, but trying to store all their stuff can be rather tricky! That is why I love the Stack N Go Caddies. They can hold a ton of craft supplies, AND the kids can use them without any trouble! So to keep them organized, I added some colorful labels to the tops.

Materials 

Stack N Go Caddy 

DCWV Paper 

Round Hole Punch 

Xyron Creative Station Lite with Repositionable Refills 

Tombow Dual Pen 

Scissors 

Tutorial

Cut DCWV paper to the size of the square on the top of the Stack N Go boxes. 

Punch out the white paper with the 1.5" round hole punch. 

Run the round punches through the Xyron Creative Station with repositionable refills.

Adhere each round punch to the middle of each square. 

Run the square through the Xyron Creative Station with a repositionable refill. I did this so it is easy to switch out labels when the kids want to change what is stored in each bin.

Using the Tombow pen, write what goes into each box within the circle. 

Adhere each label to the lid of the Stack N Go Caddy.

Fill with goodies. 

Enjoy!
