Book Stand with Mini Chalkboard

Do you have a reader in your house?

My grandson Nick learned to read this year in Kindergarten.

This new ability has renewed his love of books.

Not just any old book will do, it has to be a chapter book.

To keep Nick from rummaging through all the bookshelves…

I created a small book stand for him to use with all the age appropriate books

I’ve saved through the years.

To create Nick’s bookstand…

I used a Square Display Riser from a set of 3 acrylic risers I received from Deflecto as

part of my monthly Design Team box.

I covered the outside of the Square Display Riser with ScotchBlue Platinum Painter’s Tape.

I sprayed the inside of the Square Display Riser with Multi-Purpose Spray Paint.

I die-cut a scalloped square from black chalkboard vinyl (Sign Tags w/Wet Erase Marker)

and roughed it up with extra fine sandpaper for better paint adhesion before painting with

green spray paint.

For the Mini Chalkboard…
  • I cut a smaller piece of the black chalkboard vinyl and punched holes on each of the four corners to add decorative brads before gluing with Beacon’s Quick Grip Glue onto the painted scalloped square.
  • I glued the completed scalloped square onto the Square Display Riser.

The mini chalkboard is a great place to write encouraging reminders for your reader.

Display Fatherly Love with Deflecto

Hello, everyone!!! I'm here today to show you a how to display fatherly love with Deflecto's Acrylic Display Blocks and Square Risers.

Father's Day is around the corner and Dad's are pretty easy going when it comes to gifts. At least my dad.  He is older now and just wants some peace and quiet.  All of his children are all grown, so it's his time to rest!!  Or so he thinks, LOL!!

This year I decided to give him a gift that matches my mom's gift.  Pictures of his grown children displayed differently.

Let's take a look:

This display will set on his desk in his room.  I can't wait for him to see it.  He sits there to read his paper and write out his lotto numbers.  Now he will see his children there to as well.

Let's take a look at these cute Deflecto projects closer:

First up are the Acrylic Display Blocks.

They come in two sizes: 4 x4 and 3 x 3.

They are highly polished, clear solid blocks.

They can be used as a paperweight, a display tray or a turned into a shadow box like display (which is what I did above).

I simply adhered the photo to the back of the block and added stickers to decorate it.

Second up are the Acrylic Display Risers.

They come in a set of three.

They differ in size so that they fit right underneath each other for storage.

The sizes are 9" x 5.75", 8.50" x 5" and 8" x 4".

Made of heavy duty clear polished acrylic.

Great for displaying anything in your home or office.

I decorated them with a sticker that wasn't too overbearing that my father would appreciate.  The display blocks fight right on top nicely.

I know my dad will be surprised by his Father's day gift.  Something different that will make him smile.

Both projects are nice clean and simple!!

So what do you think? Will you use the blocks or the risers to display items in your home or office? I would love to hear from you.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you were inspired here today.

Baseball Display Stand

Father's Day is right around the corner, and today's project is the perfect gift if you have a baseball fan in the family!

Deflecto's Acrylic Display Block is such a cool way to show off your treasures. It's a solid piece of acrylic that is just the right size for displaying smaller items: a baseball fits perfectly on it!

In keeping with the baseball theme, I decorated the display block with these adorable buttons from Buttons Galore. They are so easy to attach to the block -- just put a little dot of hot glue on the back of each button!

I placed a baseball stand on top of the display block to hold the baseball. I made a stand using a 3D printer. However, if you don't have a 3D printer, you can always keep the ball from rolling off the stand by placing a large metal washer on top of the block (attach with hot glue). Then place the ball on top of the washer -- the hole in the washer will hold the ball, so it won't roll.

Now, Dad has a fun way to display his favorite ballpark memories, either at home or at work!

Easy Gift for Dad

Hi crafters! Monica here today and I am sharing an easy DIY gift for Father's Day using your Acrylic Display Risers. Since my dad loves to read and I mean loves to read I thought to make him something he could put his books in. Normally, they are laid out on the floor everywhere collecting dust.

So, I used the Acrylic Risers and turned them over (as seen below) and decorated them with some SRM stickers which holds them together to form a makeshift bookstand. I added a sentiment, so he will always remember I love him.
Perfect DIY gift idea for Father's Day!

I hope everyone enjoyed my post and thanks for stopping by.

Father's Day with my Deflecto Style

Hello everyone, I am here today to show you how to decorate an acrylic block for Father's Day Gift. It is easy, different and useful!!! Take a look at my blocks:

These are Deflecto Acrylic Blocks that come in two different sizes, 3" square inches and 4" square inches. I decided to use Vinyl to decorate these. I started with the Deflecto 4" acrylic square block, creating a layout in gold vinyl with my Cricut Explore and keeping the transparent look. It works perfectly as a paperweight or book ends

My second Deflecto 3" acrylic square block is a little different because on this I used a black and white photo for the back side and a different vinyl creation for the front. This has the advantage that I can replace the photo any time that I want.

For both creations I used the cricut explore to create and cut the vinyl layout but you can cut different design using die cuts, scissors or any cutter of your preference.

My husband, the lucky owner of these Deflecto Acrylic Blocks, is a little picky with the decorations for his office and desk but I am totally sure that he will love how these will look on his office because they are the perfect size and he considers it useful and beautiful and also, because we think he is the best Dad!

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you were inspired here today and now have a great idea to make something for Father's Day with Deflecto.

See you soon!

#1 Teacher Paperweight

School is almost out for summer! What better way to show appreciation to a favorite teacher than to give her a useful keepsake that she can remember you by?
Here is what you will need:

Adhesive back Vinyl: Navy Blue, Dark Pink, Green

You will need a die-cutting machine with dies for an apple, #1 Teacher (or something similar....a worm, book, etc. would be cute.) Set your dial to the proper size. I recommend cutting out a sample on a scrap of paper before using the actual vinyl.

It only takes minutes to apply the vinyl to the acrylic block. You can apply to the front and the back. Smooth out any air bubbles.

The pencil holder shown in the photo is also a product from Deflecto. The pencil holder is hinged and opens up to reveal 2 small frames built into the container.

I hope you got some inspiration here today. Make sure to take time to enjoy the small blessings along the way and,

Get A Jump Start On Your Thanksgiving Decor

Hello, everyone Nadine here today! Have you ever had an event or a party and needed a way to display a bunch of signs and hang banners? Well, Deflecto has all the perfect solutions, and on November 28th Create and Craft will be featuring Deflecto’s new Event Kit that will have several of the products I used for my Thanksgiving celebration decor. You are not going to want to miss out on these kits! Click HERE to find where to watch!

I made a burlap "Thankful" banner and hung it on the wall with Deflecto's Sign & Banner Hangers. No need to worry about them ruining your paint, the adhesives are removable.

The 3 Tier Dessert Stand can be used to display cupcakes, pastries, cake pops and so much more. Since I haven't made any treats yet for Thanksgiving to display on it, I thought I would turn it into a pretty centerpiece. Just adhere some thin strips of fall colored paper to the edges of each level of the tiers. Then add some fall garland and some mini pumpkins and viola, super easy centerpiece!

On the top of the 3 Tier Dessert Stand, I attached a Happy Thanksgiving sign that I found on the internet and just printed out on some cardstock. To attached the sign I used a VersaGrip Wide Double Clips.

I also made some little name seating signs using the 1 ½" x 2" Mini Sign Holder Frames. Information on how I created these and a tutorial video will be posted soon.

Thank you for visiting and make sure to come back again for even more inspiration. Also, check out the sneak peek below of the Event Kit that Create and Craft will be featuring on November 28th.

Santa Belly Party with Deflecto

Celebrate the Holidays with Deflecto! A peek at new product!!

Is anybody else excited about attending the CHA Mega Show in January?? I sure am! I will be teaching a workshop and Make n' Takes for Deflecto and can't wait to see everyone!

Holiday celebrations are in full swing! I recently had a party at my house, and I got to use the brand spankin' new 3-tiered dessert rack by Deflecto! This versatile rack can be decorated in numerous ways to fit in with your party theme. I used some decorative Santa Belly paper tape by Little B. I applied it around the edges of the tiered platters. I had a Santa Belly theme going as you can see!

The 3-tiered rack starts out flat. This makes for easy storing, easy mantling and dismantling!

Below is a picture of the rack with the paper tape that I used before assembling and decorating.

Below is the rack after it is assembled. The weather here has been dark and rainy. There wasn't a good way for me to get this picture. You do get the idea, though, right?

Deflecto has many products that are perfect for any celebration or party! I used their risers, sign holders, (small and mini), and the clips for connecting signage to your displays. Check out the website for the crafts division at http://www.deflecto.com/craft/ for all of your signage and storage needs!

Below are some more photos of the party table and Deflecto products that I used.

The gal in the photo below was graciously helping me by holding an ice cylinder for me. We were just getting the party started. The Santa Belly cones shown below were our party favors. I used more of the Santa Belly tape to decorate the painted paper mache' cones.

Hope you got some inspiration on this blog today. Be sure to come and see us at the Deflecto booth at the CHA mega show in January! We will be showing off all of the new products and have some very fun events in store. Did I mention there is prize money involved??

Be sure to take time to enjoy the small blessings along the way and
