Organizing Jewelry Making Supplies

End of the year organizing:

Organizing can be a pain, but it's also refreshing to start a new year with things in place. When Kymona started metal stamping a few years ago, she said her supplies were all over the place-in drawers, baskets, handmade pouches- everywhere. It was getting on her nerves! She decided for the new year, all of her jewelry making supplies needed to be in one handy place so she can create without looking in a million different spots.

The stackable caddy organizer and caddy storage tray was her first choice in organizing. The caddy has multiple units that can be conveniently stacked and locked using the lift and lock feature. Each compartment can be taken out of the frame and used independently. It has three different compartment sizes including small, medium and large. Since jewelry supplies come in different sizes, this feature is excellent for holding tools, jewelry pieces, and accessories separately.

The caddy storage tray fits neatly inside the large storage container. It has ten medium compartments and one large compartment. All the small jewelry pieces fit neatly in these compartments.

The Stackable Caddy Organizer is great for on-the-go storage.

Wood Slice String Art Ornaments

We love these adorable Rustic String Ornaments that design team member Erin Reed created using wood slices, nails, and yarn.

Making ornaments with her each family year is part of their Family Traditions.

Once supplies are gathered, Erin uses the Caddy Storage Tray to keep everything organized. The tray makes it easy for the kids to find the pieces they need to finish their ornaments. The little bits of yarn, nails, twine, and wood slices all fit perfectly.

Erin creates the ornaments by drawing simple shapes onto the wood slices and adds small nails to the design while adding a little loop to the end of the yarn to start winding it around the nails. With a little help pounding in the nails, even younger kids can make these ornaments.

An Organizing Solution for the Junk Drawer

We all hate the dreaded junk drawer, but most of us have them. Junk drawers are the family dumping ground for anything you don't know what to do with. They hold things like pet toys, rubber bands, and other miscellaneous items. The worst part you can never find what you are looking for!

Do you have a junk drawer that needs organizing?

Design team member, Nadine Carlier had one of those drawers and decided to do something about it. She used Deflecto's Carousel Rotating Organizer as the perfect solution for cleaning out her junk drawer. Since the carousel rotates, she moved it into the pantry and can move it around to find the bin she needs. As a bonus, she says "I can now use that drawer in my kitchen for kitchen things." The bins are clear making it easy to see what is in each one.

Each bin is a clear canister and has a snap-tight lid that can be easily removed to get what you need.

December Daily Organization

Have you heard about creating a December Daily?

With everyone so busy during the Holidays, a December Daily® is a mini-album project that documents the 25 days leading up to Christmas. It's a great way to remember all the fun you've had.

For her December Daily, design team member Anita Scroggins shows us how she keeps everything organized using the Deflecto Large 3 Drawer Organizer and Small 3 Drawer Organizer. Anita gathers up her papers, embellishments, adhesives, album, and other things she wants to use on this year's album. She then sorts everything by type and how she will be using it.

Anita even uses one of the drawers from the small organizer on top to hold stamps, ribbons, adhesives, and journal pens. Since the drawers in the Small Organizer are divided, they hold the larger items upright and keep everything in its place.

When everything's in place it makes working on your project easier too.

Organizing your Cookie Decorating Supplies

Cookie making and decorating time is upon us. If you love making cookies but hate digging out all the stuff, design team member Erin Reed shows how she organizes all her cookie-making supplies into a one-stop spot.

Erin likes to keep the supplies organized so they are easy to find! No more digging through the drawers to find the items she needs.

In each of the little cubbies of the Deflecto Interlocking Tilt Bins, she placed items needed to decorate the cookies such as food coloring to dye the icing, cookie cutters, sprinkles, and cupcake liners. Erin loves that the Deflecto Tilt Bins open and stay open until she closes them. You can also remove one bin at a time and take it to another spot on the counter. They make getting things in and out of the bins super easy.

Holiday Hostess Gift Idea

The Holiday Season is here which means two things: gift-giving and parties!

If you're struggling for ideas, design team member Lorrie came up with the perfect solution for a practical gift that any hostess is sure to love.

Lorrie created a Coffee Station using the Deflecto 3 drawer Organizer.

It's an easy gift to put together that is sure to please even the pickiest party host. The drawers in this unit are just the right size for K-Cups and all the things a coffee lover needs. Lorrie filled the top drawer with assorted K-cups, the second drawer with single-serve creamers and the bottom drawer with sweetener and disposable spoons. The host can set this out at the party next to her single-serve coffee maker and let guests help themselves.

Sharing Kindness

It only takes a moment to share a little kindness.

Inspired by World Kindness Day coming up on November 13th, Design Team Member, Lorrie McCullers used the Interlocking Stacking Towers to create blessing boxes to be handed out in her community. Blessing boxes are kits that provide essentials for those in need.

The Deflecto Interlocking Stacking Organizer comes with three individual containers and six interlocking lids. The great part about these containers is that they can be put together in a variety of configurations and different sized items. The lids and containers lock together so that you can create an organizer that is perfect for anything you want to put into your blessing containers.

Organizing your Embellishments

Looking for a great way to organize your embellishments?

Design Team Member, Nadine Carlier used the Deflecto Rotating Carousel Organizer to organize her large collection of artificial flowers and leaves. This is visually appealing and really helpful in finding what you're looking for.

Nadine says the Deflecto Rotating Carousel was the answer to all her flower and leaf organization issues. She organizes her flowers by color and takes only the bins that she needs to her workspace instead of having all her flowers on her desk taking up much needed space to craft. The Rotating Carousel comes with 9 bins, three large bins, and 6 small-bins which are great for organizing items all around the house.

Paint Storage Solutions with Deflecto Wall Mounting Bars

Paint Storage Solutions with Deflecto Wall Mounting Bars and Stackable Caddy Containers:

When design team member Anita Scroggins decided to organize her ever-growing collection of paints and brushes she used a combination of Deflecto Wall Mounting Bars and Stackable Caddy Containers, great use of her wall space.

Anita mounted four wall mounting bars above and beside the picture ledges used to display her small bottles of paint. To maximize storage, she measured her longest paintbrush and spaced the bars far enough apart so that she would have space for those long brushes no matter where she put them. Anita used a combination of Small, Medium and Large Containers, removing the lids off each one. The containers go on and off the wall mounting bar easily and straight to your work area.

The large container was perfect for storing stencils and accessories.

Fall Wall File Holder

Spruce up your office cubical or craft space with these Fall wall file holders.

Materials Needed:

Take your preferred fabric or cover and cut to size of the wall file. Leave a little extra to fit sides as needed.

Apply cover to the outside of the file holder and wrap around the sides. Tape or hot glue to the inside flap as you go making sure everything is smooth. Cover the entire surface and secure it before cutting the screw holes. It's easier to poke through the fabric with your nail from the wall file to create the hole needed for hanging the holder.

Tip: It was easier to do the sides of the tray first before fixing the front to make sure it was smooth and the fabric would cover the entire surface.

If you used glue, let dry. Once dry, use a credit card to flatten out any lumps that could be on the surface.

Hang the wall file in your space following the manufacturer's instructions! If using tape, you can change out the paper for the different holidays and seasons to really get festive!

Marker Storage Solutions

Happy National Craft Week!

Saturday was National Card Making Day and now we have National Craft Week? Be still my crafty little heart. (Seriously, I thought every week was craft week.) Since we’re talking all things “crafty” this week, I’d like to ask you a personal question.
How do you store your markers?
When it comes to markers, we all have our opinions and preference on which are our favorite. Lately, I’ve been curious about how everyone stores their markers and what works best for you. I started rubber stamping in the mid-'90s and slowly built up a nice collection of Art Markers. Personally, I have been using Tombow Markers for over 20 years and some markers in my collection are almost as old.

Up until recently, my marker storage system was just about as old as my collection. A wobbly little holder (with a slight lean) and an extra basket for the overflow. It worked, but it wasn’t quite as efficient as I wanted it to be.

Recently, I started doing a lot more cardmaking and using my markers again.

That’s when I started using the Expandable Marker Accordion* from Deflecto. It is the ultimate in marker storage and portability! It has 80 slots that hold markers, but because my Tombow and Marvy markers are skinnier than Copic markers, I can easily put two markers in each slot.

The Expandable Marker Accordion comes with a clear lid that easily snaps in place and a handle that makes it easy to take your markers with you to classes and crops, keeping everything secure.

Depending on your workspace, you can use it in a straight line, a U shape, as a cube or in my favorite, a zig-zag pattern. Whatever combination works best for you and the project that you’re working on.

Let’s talk another option.

Maybe you’re just starting out your marker collection or you need a little more flexibility with your marker storage, you might like Deflecto’s Interlocking Marker OrganizerThis little marker holder can be used solo or because it has an interlocking design it can be connected to additional units, making it perfect whether you use it upright or horizontal.

And the best part, the Interlocking Marker Organizer also fits into the Stackable Caddy Organizer. You can fit six marker organizers into the Stackable Caddy for the Ultimate Grab and Go. So many great options to fit your crafting style.
